Authors Create Learning
In Cognise, Authors create learning or are represented as Instructors in learning. Authors are made up of Internal (member-users) and external names.
Internal authors are automatically created when they first create learning. They can be seen in Config. after the filter is applied. The author is the same profile as the user-member in Cognise. Normally, there is nothing to action there.
External Authors (manually created in config.) are not users in the system. Once created, these authors can also be used to appear as an 'Instructor' in learning. e.g. Kevin Crane, External Trainer, Crane Consulting.
Creating an Author
When creating an Author, admins complete the following fields: Name, Role, Blurb, a website url or an email [not both], upload avatar. Some fields are optional.
In the course details for example, a non-member author can be made the instructor of the course even though they are not a member in the company, or in cognise.
β It is important to note an external author is just a placeholder - they do not exist as a profile so cannot receive emails from members.
Case Worker - Admin.
For capturing messages intended to be sent to an external Author/Instructor, system admins in Config. > Admins can set on any admins a fallback called Case Worker. This means any admin with this checked receives the message to the external instructor, and can respond.
β We ensure at least one of the main admins has Case Worker checked on. We would recommend multiple case workers e.g. one is away on leave.
