Best practice with groups

Groups are found in the Community. Admins can create a group.

Groups are very flexible and powerful. A group consists of coaches (owners), members, learning, and discussions.

Public or Private

Groups can be set to be public - any member can join, or private where an approval request to join is made before being able to access the private group.

Group Members

The owner can create other coaches and grant them full access or contributor. A contributor cannot edit the group or delete the owner. Coaches add members in private groups. In public groups coaches can add members and a member can add themself.

Group Learning

  • Group owners determine who can create learning in the group.

  • Only full coaches

  • All coaches, or

  • All coaches and all members.

The learning created by anyone in the group goes into a private catalog which only seen by the group members.

Learning can be assigned to the group by coaches.

Auto join rules can be setup to automatically join a member if they meet the set criteria. An example would be associating a defined meta called Location and it is set for anyone with location = Christchurch in their profile, auto-joins the group.

Group Discussion

Groups also have a discussion. All group members can participate in the discussion, ask questions, add links, upload content and share knowledge.
