About External Learning Requests

External learning requests are made by members for learning that takes place outside of this system e.g. a conference.

An external request is either seeking approval to attend learning in the future, or requesting to be recognised for learning completed in the past.

Member making an External Learning Request

A standard member can create a request in two different ways.

  • When Let's Create is enabled, the member will select External.

  • If Let's Create does not display to the member, they may be permitted to still create an external learning request by selecting their icon in the top menu and then selecting external learning as shown.

Once the member selects this they will see a full height request window. The member decides if they wish to make a request to attend learning upcoming that is known e.g., a Conference, or the member can make a request to have something recognised they have completed in the past. [Recognition of Prior Learning].

Each workflow has similar steps.

Future Learning Request Workflow

Then choose what skill category the learning best represents.

Then select the type of learning.

Enter dates the learning occurs.

Complete and submit. The user can click on the right 'Your Progress' panel to navigate back to one of the previous screens and change.

Once they have completed the form they submit for review. The request is either approved or declined and the member is notified.

Request for Prior Achievement

The workflow is very similar and the final form is where the member validates the learning eg uploads a certificate.
