About SCORM

The Cognise course builder allows for SCORM. This standard has been around for now well over 20 years. Often, creators using 3rd party products add a quiz and the tracking is set to Quiz results. Another is Course Completion. Cognise tracks both of these.

✏️ if there is something wrong with a SCORM file (for example the index file is not where it is supposed to be within the zip), or the export settings have been set differently to what Cognise reads, our support cannot do anything to help. The first thing to check in the product that made the SCORM Course is the SCORM export settings, re-export, and try uploading again.

How to setup a Course with SCORM

This is the simplest way to create a SCORM based course:

  1. Under Let's Create select HTML Course Template

  2. In build mode, select and edit the HTML block

  3. Upload the SCORM zip

  4. Set 'Tracking On' the HTML block. In the image below, under Tracked, the default label 'SCORM' is editable text as are all blocks that are tracked.

5. Under Settings for the Course set 'Completion Tracking' to Block Tracking. You will see the tracked SCORM block.

Polishing Touches

If you wish to accentuate the completion, thendo the following:

  1. Below the HTML layout, add a Continue button [Add layout > Navigation]. Set 'Require Previous to be Completed' to Yes.

  2. Below the continue, add an Incomplete/Complete layout.

  3. Decide on icon selection choices, and edit any text.

That means, the incomplete/complete block will not display until the SCORM is completed.

Enrolment - SCORM Content

Under View Enrolments the Admin can click on an enrolment, then click on content to reveal the SCORM interactions. The example below shows a Completed course.

Reporting

The Course report will also display the tracked SCORM block. The same information as above can be revealed by clicking on the learner's name.
